I bought a pair of these from a local retailer for a few dollars more.
They are very solid when open and placing a load on them. The legs fold and lock using a small ball type device. Once you hear it click, you are set. Depress the ball to release the leg back into the support area and out of the way.
I would not feel unsafe placing a platform on them for working above the ground.
